How the ratings work
Why did I lose points after a good night?
Points depend on who you played. Beating weaker players gains little; losing to one costs more. The number moves towards what your results say.
What is the ±?
How sure the number is. New players swing more. It shrinks as you play.
Why am I not on the ranked table?
You are ranked once the ± is 110 or less. That is usually about eight games.
Why did I disappear?
No games in 90 days moves you to “away”. Play a night and you are back.
Do games against other brackets count?
Yes. One rating pool, separate boards.
Why is my number different from the old sheet?
New system (Glicko-2), replayed from every game since October 2025. Seasons 1–7 are kept separately.
What are the trophies on my page?
Finish in the top three on a club night, counted against the others in your bracket that night, so a cup always names the bracket you won it in. Your bracket is set on your first night of the season and holds until the season ends, so nothing you do mid-season moves you. Break your section’s ceiling and you still play for its prize, then move up for the next one. Falling out of a bracket takes two full seasons of playing below it. You need three games that night for it to count, and a tie shares the place.
How is “most improved” worked out?
Change over the last 90 days, settled ratings only, at least twelve games. Under 1400 ELO and Under 1000 ELO only — above 1400 a three-month swing says more about who turned up than about anyone improving.
